Nigeria’s Vazzel is using AI to help emerging fashion vendors

Nigeria’s Vazzel is an AI-powered fashion marketplace, built to help emerging fashion vendors sell in a structured, trusted environment.

Founded in 2024 by Mayowa Akande to address the structural gap in Africa’s fashion e-commerce space, Vazzel offers emerging fashion venders access to professional vendor storefronts, secure transactions, an AI-powered measuring tool that reduces returns, free delivery incentives, and vendor growth programmes.

“Many vendors currently rely solely on social media, which limits visibility and customer trust. Customers, on the other hand, face issues such as sizing uncertainty, scams, and unreliable delivery,” Akande told Disrupt Africa. “Our goal is to become Africa’s most trusted fashion-tech platform.”

So far, so good. Since launch, more than 500 vendors have recorded orders, and repeat buyers.

“Early traction has been driven by community activation and online campaigns, demonstrating strong demand for a structured fashion marketplace,” Akande said.

The self-funded Vazzel plans expansion into the wider West Africa region, followed by broader African markets, alongside logistics and vendor network expansion.
