Nigerian startup Tespire has secured a round of funding from Alternative Bank to scale its research project Asibiti, which aims to address one of the most complex problems in the Nigerian health system.
Founded in Northern Nigeria in 2022 by Abdulkadir Suleiman Lapai and Umar Madugu, Tespire began life building infrastructure that empowers school owners with digital tools like tablets and internet access to simplify administrative processes.
After raising an undisclosed amount of pre-seed funding last year, the company has now also expanded into the healthcare space, and signed a global Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alternative Bank last year.
It has now secured funding from the bank, to support Asibiti, its forward-thinking health research project. After early experiments with public hospitals in Niger State revealed a genuine drive for transformation, Tespire developed the Asibiti box, which is integrated with its management systems alongside an inbuilt internet connection.
The startup will use the funding to help with the day-to-day operations, while Tespire also plans to expand the project to private hospitals and launch a feature that enables the expansion.
